Verdi Requiem

September 8, 2019 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Melbourne Bach Choir and Zelman Memorial Symphony Orchestra are proud to bring you the Verdi Requiem with a cast of four superb Australian soloists under the baton of Rick Prakhoff.

Soprano Helena Dix recently made her New York Metropolitan Opera debut. Last November, she sang the Verdi Requiem with London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall. Jacqueline Dark is a multiple Helpmann and Green Room Award-winning mezzo-soprano. Paul O’Neill has sung leading tenor roles throughout Australasia and Europe. In addition to his international and OA reputation, bass baritone, Adrian Tamburini is well-known to Zelman Symphony audiences, having sung in Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 13, Babi Yar.

Often described as “Verdi’s greatest opera”, his Requiem is an expansive yet tightly knit masterpiece of monumental drama and intense emotion.
