Loss and Renewal: Chamber Music of J. S. Bach

April 16, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

$29 – $40

Chamber Music of J.S. Bach

About the artists

In this pre-dinner recital Madeleine Easton, violin, Rosanne Hunt, cello and Donald Nicolson, harpsichord – three of Australia’s most respected baroque specialists – will explore the themes of fate, sacrifice and joy in the instrumental music of J.S. Bach, reflecting the overarching theme and experience of Easter.

About the concert

The programme will feature two of Bach’s innovative sonatas for violin and obbligato harpsichord, where the keyboard instrument plays a melodic role equal to that of the violin. Rosanne will play the second suite for solo cello, whose contrasting dance movements constitute one of music’s most profound creations.
