Beneath the Stars

May 6, 2016 @ 7:00 pm

$50

Melbourne-based Polyphonic Voices, one of Australia’s leading chamber choirs, is kicking off its 2016 concert season with “Beneath the Stars”, a program featuring some of the most atmospheric and ethereal choral music ever written. The choir will perform the program twice, with a performance in Bendigo’s Sacred Heart Cathedral on the 30th of April, followed by a rare experience for audiences when the group’s singing is accompanied by overhead projections of the night sky in the Melbourne Planetarium on the 6th of May.

Both performances will feature the music of contemporary choral greats such as Ēriks Ešenvalds, Eric Whitacre, Jan Sandström, Sir John Tavener and Ola Gjeilo, as well as that of old masters such as Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and Josef Rheinberger. The choir will also pay tribute to the late David Bowie with an arrangement of his hit Space Oddity. This musical program will explore pictorial as well as psychological themes such as space travel, the vastness of space, the night sky, moonlight, sleep, the Northern Lights and, of course, stars.

Tickets to the Bendigo & Melbourne concerts, as well as more information about these and other Polyphonic Voices performances, are available from Polyphonic Voices Website. www.polyphonicvoices.com

Melbourne Tickets: $50 General Admission, $30 Students (with valid ID).
