March 29 @ 7:13 pm

Alan Griffiths is a Melbourne art music composer/producer specialising in writing for piano, chamber and previously scored 25 films including corporates and 2 feature films. In 2006 he produced well-received Autogeddon theatre show for the Melbourne Fringe.

His 3 art music albums have received glowing reviews both nationally and overseas. Alan’s debut solo piano album Introspection features world class virtuoso Australian/Ukrainian pianist Evgeny Ukhanov performing 9 pieces. The Introspection World Premiere was performed at Crispe Galleries in New South Wales as part of the 2016 Stuart & Sons Spring Concert Series. Italy’s artist and Princess Nike Borghese launched her most recent exhibition of etchings as part of Alan’s concert.

7 pieces from Introspection are included in ANZCA’s 2018 – 2020 piano syllabus. ANZCA (Australia New Zealand Cultural Arts) conducts instrumental examinations in Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and Brunei. These are published on Alan’s website and can be purchased from his virtual shop. ANZCA rated these pieces as either Grade 8 or Associate.

Alan’s 50th Birthday Concert featuring acclaimed virtuoso pianist Nicholas Young, ANAM Fellows cellist Gemma Kneale and violist Zoe Friesberg attracted a glowing review from Cut|Common.

The 2018 world premiere of his second album Rare View, performed at Beleura House, was the first concert on the world’s first 9 octave piano, 108-key 4-pedal Stuart & Sons concert grand piano, affectionately named as the Big Beleura. Alan wrote and re-arranged his repertoire for this one-off concert sponsored by SONY, Stuart & Sons and performed by Nicholas, who also recorded the Rare View studio album. Polish Violinist Dominik Przywara and Sydney concert cellist George Yang accompanied Nicholas in the chamber work and also appear on the album. Like Alan’s studio album, the live concert is also a world first recorded with SONY’s brand new C10o Hi-Rez microphones. Alan’s 3 albums are available for sale on his website.

SONY Japan flew over a film crew of 9 personnel including acclaimed Japanese film director Kenshin Nawa to film the 108-key Stuart piano, SONY officials, Wayne Stuart, Nicholas Young, Dominik Przywara, George Yang and Alan Griffiths, which was included in their SONY Stories series and featured at the 2019 CES in Las Vegas.

Alan plans to produce a further 6 albums, plus further concerts interstate and overseas and continues to compose chamber work.
